Uyghurs at the Crossroads: Culture, Oppression, and Global Response

  • International Support for Uyghurs Montreal, QC, Canada (map)

At the impactful event "Uyghurs at the Crossroads: Culture, Oppression, and Global Response," held on November 8 at 4thSpace and organized by ISU (International Support for Uyghurs), we addressed one of today's most pressing humanitarian issues. Bringing together academics, activists, and artists, this forum aimed to discuss and raise awareness about the Uyghur crisis from various perspectives. The digital art show, hosted at Concordia University from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, featured talks by Dr. Susan J. Palmer, Dr. Adalyat Issiyeva, Kayum Masimov, and moderator Dr. Kimberley Manning, alongside digital art portraying the Uyghur genocide. Our brief exhibition aimed to illuminate real human experiences and the severe consequences of the Uyghur genocide resulting from contemporary colonialism. Through impactful images, we sought to evoke empathy, encourage critical thinking, and ignite discussions on human rights violations. We appreciate the attendance of all those who joined us.
